My Journey Into the World of Complementary Therapies
My interest in Complementary Therapies started in 2004 after being diagnosed with M.E. and Fibromyalgia.
I was unable to tolerate the side effects of conventional medicines and turned to Reflexology, Massage and Osteopathy to help manage my symptoms. The effectiveness of these treatments along with making dietary and lifestyle changes had a massive impact on my recovery. It was this experience that led to me developing a passion for Complementary Therapies and I decided to pursue a career in this area.
In 2006 I began my Reflexology training with Geraldine Giles at the Oxford School of Reflexology,
following the protocol of The International Academy of Reflexology & Meridian Therapy (IARAMT).
In 2007 I gained an ABC Level 3 Diploma, alongside this I also undertook training in Indian Head Massage,
Hand Reflexology and Meridian Therapy.
In 2014 I decided to further develop my therapy business and in 2015 I qualified at the Maidstone School of Complementary Therapy, gaining an ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage.
Since then I have been focused on updating and enhancing my skills, undertaking several CPD training courses and workshops, such as:
Advanced Massage Techniques
Hot Stone Reflexology
Aromareflex (Advanced level)
Pre-conceptual, Pregnancy and Post-Natal Reflexology
Hot and Cold Stone Massage
Myofascial Release Techniques
Cancer Care Workshop for Therapists
Treating Generalised Anxiety and Panic Attacks Workshop
Acupressure Facial Massage
Functional Reflex Therapy
Angelic Reiki (Master)
Abdominal Sacral Massage
In 2017 I became an approved Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) Practitioner. RLD is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. This unique sequence has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons), whilst working in Cancer Care.
I am currently training in Five Element Reflexology (Advanced Level 5), which incorporates Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements into Reflexology.
Working holistically this approach uses a range of reflexology techniques and acupressure points to help support deficiencies, release stagnation and sedate excesses in the body, which in turn promotes lasting changes. I'm very excited at the prospect of being able to offer this effective treatment to my clients.
My clients can feel confident in the knowledge that I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists; Registered on the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) for Reflexology and Massage; and I have full Public Liability and Malpractice Insurance from the Alan Boswell Group.
