An Ancient Healing Art
Reflexology has been used for centuries to promote healing and wellness, it is a complementary therapy in which a therapist will use their hands to help rebalance the equilibrium of the body, encouraging and promoting healing as well as offering deep relaxation. It works on the concept that areas of the human body are reflected in the feet (and hands) and by using different massage techniques the therapist can stimulate the thousands of nerve endings that run throughout the body, it is thought this action promotes self-healing. There are many conditions that may be helped through Reflexology, it does so by bringing balance back to the different systems of the body (homeostasis). The possible benefits can include:
Improved blood and lymph circulation
Assisted removal of bodily toxins and impurities
Strengthened immune system
Restoration of balance back to physical and emotional aspects of the body
Reduced stress and its associated symptoms
Improved stability of disorders of the digestive system
Revitalised energy and promoting a feeling of wellbeing
Help with sleep issues
Your first treatment will last for approximately 1.5 hours as a full consultation will need to be taken before starting and feedback and treatment plans will need to be discussed after treatment.
After the initial consultation I will explore all areas on the feet and will make an assessment as to any specific areas to focus the treatment on. I will note temperature, muscle tone, tissue tone, skin conditions, variations in skin colour as well as deformities in the feet as all these will contribute to a comprehensive picture of any problems. I will the work every area of your foot, which will, in turn, stimulate or sedate the different areas of the body, giving you a relaxing, holistic treatment.
I will use various types of massage techniques throughout the treatment as different areas of the feet require different levels of pressure and movement in order to reach the required outcome. The level of pressure I will use will be adjusted accordingly to suit you so as not to cause pain, however there maybe be some discomfort at times, usually in areas where there may be an imbalance. Areas of concern or weakness may be worked on for longer during the treatment and I will incorporate various techniques/skills to tailor the treatment specifically to your needs. you may find that I use holding techniques, these are equally as essential as the stimulating techniques as some areas of the body may need to be gently worked Subsequent treatments will usually last from 30-60 minutes depending on the treatment required.
I make my own natural balm using shea butter, coconut oil, grapeseed oil and essential oils, it is packaged in individual pots so that my clients can take home the remainder at the end of the treatment. This balm will be used to aid the massage techniques used and enhance the flow of movement however this is not essential, so if you would prefer not to use the balm then please let me know.
After each session you will be given aftercare advice to get the best outcome from your treatment.
Foot Reflexology is my most popular treatment, the majority of my clients quickly find themselves in a deep state of relaxation and often fall asleep. I use my various skills and experience to adapt and personalise each treatment to suit your specific needs and requirements on that day.
The use of Hot Stones can also be added in a Reflexology treatment, the heat of the stone enhances and heightens the benefits of the treatment.
Hand Reflexology is a great alternative for those who are unable to receive treatment through their feet or do not like having their feet touched. Clients state they feel relaxed and renewed after each session, particularly feeling rejuvenation in their hands and arms immediately after treatment. I often give Hand Reflexology techniques as client homework between sessions.
HOT STONE REFLEXOLOGY
Hot Stone Reflexology is a wonderful, relaxing treatment.
Large stones are used to warm and massage the legs and feet whilst smaller stones are used between toes and to stimulate reflex points.
The heat produced by the stones increases the effectiveness of the treatment. A popular treatment in the colder months.
